Cooperating with China, Indonesia's first high-speed train is ready to use

 PT Kereta Api Indonesia China (KCIC) is responsible for the construction of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project. The company is a combination of the Indonesian consortium, PT Pilar Sinergi BUMN Indonesia (60% shares), and the Chinese consortium, Beijing Yawan HSR Co Ltd (40% shares).

The Indonesian consortium consists of four state-owned companies. Wijaya Karya is the largest shareholder, at 38%. Then, PT Perkebunan Nusantara VIII and PT KAI each own 25% of the shares. The rest is held by Jasa Marga, amounting to 12%.


PT Kereta Api Indonesia targets the dynamic testing of the Jakarta - Bandung Fast Train or KCJB to be carried out in November 2022. The state-owned company also leaked the KCJB rates which are divided into three classes.


One KCJB series consists of eight trains with a capacity of 601 customers. The service classes are divided into 18 customers for VIP class, 28 first class customers, and 555 second class customers. The tariffs that will be charged range from Rp. 250,000 to Rp. 350,000, but this price is still being studied.


The KCJB journey in detail will connect East Jakarta City at Halim Station and Bandung Regency at Tegalluar Station with a track length of 142.3 kilometers (Km). KCJB has four stops along its route, namely Halim Station (Jakarta), Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar (Bandung). Joni hopes that the operation of KCJB can improve the economy of the community at the stopping stations.


The type of train that will be used as KCJB is KCI400AF which is designed with an Indonesian identity. The design of the KCI 400AF is inspired by Komodo with the dominant colors of red and white. While the passenger seat will be decorated with a typical Cirebon mega cloud motif.


The investment progress of the Jakarta - Bandung High Speed ​​Rail project has reached 85% to date. Meanwhile, the construction progress of the KCJB project has reached 76%.
